In this two day workshop participants will learn traditional basketry techniques such as coiling, twining, rope weave and
stitching. These techniques can be incorporated to stitch and or weave hard and soft materials into wall pieces or three
dimensional sculptural free standing forms.
As well we will look at ways to incorporate found objects to embellish or form part of the work. Found objects such as
driftwood, deadwood or branches are ideal for making handles or weaving around as well as seed pods, gourds or
stones which can be woven or stitched on to.
Technical considerations such as hand positioning, tension and shaping will also be discussed and taught during the
workshop.
