Living and creating in Thirroul and working in abstraction…
I explore both the natural and man-made landscape. While appearing restrained, my mark making becomes an important aspect as layers are built to provide the depth required. Currently I hand print abstracted forms on paper then explore layering with paint, ink, charcoal and crayon.
Sometimes the viewer is unaware of the multitude of layering, which requires a much closer inspection as the media tends to blend towards a uniform landscape.
True colour is not necessarily an important aspect of my work as the abstracted form takes precedence. In exhibition natural photographs often complement my works.
Bold, large and colourful.. my works provide a narrative to explore the landscape with a non traditional edge.
