After living in the States where Liz trained as a weaver, she established a weaving workshop in Sydney where we trained a number of weavers. Liz moved down to the Illawarra to teach visual arts at the University of Wollongong which she found very exciting as it was it a time when was the Faculty of Creative Arts was being established. Students and staff were encouraged to engage in making pieces the reflected the idea & implementation of cross fertilization in the arts. She taught there for 20 years and on retiring has been making work, teaching short workshops and curating exhibitions.
Artist’s Statement
My work reflects a number of interests – responses to place, to political situations and the environment around me. I am stimulated by being in new places which I find often through doing artist residencies – being confronted with another language, surrounded by a different culture and intriguing flora and fauna.
Now I work using a number of different approaches to an idea through making artist’ books, prints, drawings, watercolour and installations.
I am represented in International and National collections and in private collections in Australia and the USA.
