My artworks have a tactile quality produced by carving, sanding or building up the surface to create a unique fingerprint before paint is applied. The unexpected, non-traditional effect draws the viewer closer to investigate and often tempts them into haptic explorations when answers cannot be achieved by vision alone. Propensities to touch versus the ingrain taboo not to, shape the viewing experience and intensify the interest in my unusual art making process. I understand the need to touch, if just for a fleeting moment, the surface of my work. This kind of touch can amplify the meaning of an artwork by adding information about the material and its properties that cannot be achieved by visual clues alone. Be the curious cat when you see my artworks exhibited.
